Six Days of Christmas: Francesca Clementis

Day four of our Christmas posts and Francesca Clementis shares the joys of spending the holidays with children…

I remember one particular Christmas when my nephew was given a massive (and massively expensive) Star Wars Lego set.

As his doting aunt, I agreed to help him make the complicated Death Star by following the woefully inadequate instructions. In the end, I completed the model by myself as my nephew was more interested in kicking his old football around in the garden. It took me ELEVEN HOURS and I wasn’t able to join in with any of the family fun and games.

At the end, I presented the model proudly to my nephew. ‘That’s cool’, he said, casually, and went straight back out into the garden with his football.

An entire Christmas day squandered? No. I’d done something cool for my favourite person and I felt great.
